When is the best age for a baby photoshoot? Horsham Newborn photographer

Hey! Thanks so much for being here. I’m Paige, a Horsham newborn photographer with a cosy studio in the beautiful country side.

So, in answer to the question – Any age! As a parent, you would most likely agree that your baby is worth capturing at any of their ages as they are just the cutest!! However, there are a few recommend ages for each type of photoshoot – especially in your babies first year of life as there are so many milestones happening.

I have listed them below:

Maternity: 28-36 weeks pregnant

Before they have even arrived! A beautiful part of your motherhood journey that deserves to be celebrated and documented forever. Mums, you really do deserve to capture this time! It comes and goes so quickly (although it most likely doesn’t feel like it right now!)

These photoshoots can be at my studio or on location in West Sussex.

Newborn: 5-14 days old

Tiny toes, Peach fuzz and the newborn scrunch. It all deserves to be captured however it needs to be captured quickly! I highly recommend documenting this beautiful time within the first 2 weeks of your babies arrival.

Sitter: 6-9 months old

Chubby thighs, gummy smiles and the best giggles. This is one you won’t want to miss capturing. Their personalities are starting to really shine through and they are most likely learning to sit unaided! (hence its called the sitter age).

Cake Smash or First Birthday: 11-12 months old

Not heard of a cake smash? I hadn’t either before starting photography and now I can’t get enough of it. Beautiful cake portraits combined with a splash around in a bubbly bath – to celebrate their first year of life! This can be photographed a little earlier so you have the photos back in time for their actual birthday!

Family: 14+ months

Anything older than a 1 year is perfect for getting outdoors, having an adventure and getting beautiful sunset photos as a family. I always recommend outdoor family photoshoots for babies who are walking as they can then run around and not be confined to a studio space. That also makes for some beautiful photos!
