My journey from big Sister to Billingshurst Family Photographer

Welcome to my first ever blog! I’m so excited that you’re here. I’m Paige, a West Sussex newborn and family photographer with a cosy studio in Billingshurst, West Sussex.

I thought I’d begin my first blog with an introduction to how I began.

Being the eldest of seven children is a unique experience filled with joy, challenges, and countless memories. My journey as a big sister to five wonderful brothers and one beautiful sister has shaped who I am today and inspired my passion for photography. It all began when I was just 15 and received a camera for Christmas. Little did I know, this gift would become a lifelong love and a career path dedicated to capturing the precious moments of childhood.

When my parents welcomed three of my siblings into the world around the same time I got my camera, I found myself in the perfect position to combine two things I loved dearly: my family and photography. I spent countless hours photographing my siblings, documenting their growth, their milestones, and the simple, everyday moments that often get overlooked. These pictures became more than just images; they were a visual diary of our family’s story, filled with laughter, love, and a bit of chaos.

Looking back at these photographs now, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. They are not just pictures but cherished memories that bring back the sights, sounds, and emotions of those fleeting years. Each image tells a story, and together they form a tapestry of our family history that we will treasure forever.

After graduating from university in 2017, I realised I wanted to turn my passion into a profession. By 2019, I began photographing other families, driven by the desire to give them the same gift my family had received. Childhood goes by in the blink of an eye, and I wanted to help other parents capture those fleeting moments before they became distant memories.
